Time With Cousins

Our children have been talking about this event for awhile, waiting for the day to come when they could have a little party with their cousins.

We kept it simple with crafts, make your own pizza, and ended the night with a movie and popcorn.

Everyone went home with a balloon, and party bag. In the party bag, each child found a packet of cocoa mix, heart-shaped marshmellows, and a coupon to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.

We had 16 children in attendance. They were all so well behave and we had a wonderful time together.

Funny Things They Say

On occasion Matt wears a lower mouth guard to bed to help with any grinding of the teeth that may be occurring. It was sitting in the window sill when Seth noticed it. With great wonder and curiosity Seth said," Are these Daddy's teeth"?

The other day Matt told Lauren that it was time to get ready for bed. Lauren, quickly replied that mom was the boss. Matt ask Lauren how mom is the boss. Lauren said, because mom grows the babies and she is older.

Seth has been having an increasing interest in the Nephites and always talks about them. The other day Matt and Seth were talking about the fact that Nephi built a ship. Seth was curious if Nephi spent time on the beach.

Seth has the gift of gratitude. He says thank you for everything. I often recognize him for his efforts. Today he said thank you for something and I told him that it made Heavenly Father and Jesus happy. Seth then replied, "And Nephi too"!

Yesterday evening we went for a walk down the street as a family. A few houses down from our home Seth shouted, "Look at that house, that's Grandma's (Mainord) house"! The house did resemble somewhat of Grandma's house. (Unfortunately, Grandma lives far, far away. I wish we lived close to Grandparents.)

Last night we were driving home from a friends house. Their children wanted our children to spend the night at their home. We didn't want them to and so Alexis asked if I had sleepovers when I was a child? My response was that I only recalled a few times. Alexis then replied, "Well Mom,...in the old days people didn't have many sleepovers. In the new days, people have a lot of sleepovers."

Last night our family went to a buffet restaurant. Matt asked Lauren if she had fun at the restaurant. Lauren replied," Dad, I was so stuffed I couldn't eat another bite"! An hour later or so....it is time for bed and Lauren said, "Dad, I'm hungry".

Tonight Seth (age- 2 & 3 months ) was reading scriptures to Abigail. He saw a picture of Jesus blessing one of His disciples. Seth then said,"Abigail, look, Jesus is sleeping".

Lauren told Matt that she wants to have a tripple bunk bed. (For her, Seth, and Alexis) She explained," I want a snack and drink holder.(of course in case they get hungry) I also want a speaker near my bed so I can talk to you and Mom whenever I want, and I want to have a bell next to my bed so you and Mom can come whenever I need anything! (Matt and I were just laughing. I feel that she already has the bell and speaker. I just need to get the bed and food holder)

As I was reading a book to Seth I noticed that there were pencil marks scribbled on the page. I asked Seth who did it. His response was, "uh...Daddy did it"!

I told Lauren that she needed to clean her room. She fussed for a moment and while trying to minimize the situation I told her the old saying that if you whistle while you work, the work will go by faster. With a serious and sad tone in her voice she looked up at me and said,"Mom, I don't know how to whistle".

Today I spoke to Lauren about the importance of getting protein in our diet and explained where much of our daily protein comes from. Sadly she said,"but Mom, I don't liked cooked animals".

First, may I say that Alexis and Lauren who share the same birthday did receive gifts for their birthday. Now with that said in mind, Lauren told her Uncle James that she didn't get anything for her birthday. James said," Lauren, what do you mean? You got a trampoline for your birthday". Lauren then replied," That didn't count. It wasn't wrapped".
